 Post subject: Problem with mail attachments due to ext3 limit

Our ilias installation has reached ext3 limit restriction to save new attachments in mail directory. This is due to the fact tha there is a limit of 31998 sub-directories per one directory in ext3 filesystem and Ilias saves all attachments on a single mail folder (instead of a jerarquical structure like file objects for example).

I think this must be a generalized problem because I've read posts about bigger Ilias sites than ours.

How are you focusing this problem?

I think there are two possible solutions:

- A new system administration option to erase mails (and attachments) older than a certain date. Perhaps with a cron link to automatize process.
- A hashing subdirectory hierarchy for mail attachments as was used for file objects

Any ideas?
