Hi, everybody!

I hope somebody can help me with the brand new Ilias 4.0.1 and Radius authentication.
My problem is that it simple does not work.

At my company there is a Radius server which helps Ilias 3.10.9 to authenticate with Microsoft Active Directory. It works perfectly.

On the same Linux server, which runs the Ilias 3.10.9, there is our new Ilias 4.0.1 installation, with the same Radius settings as the 3.10.9 has, but I get only "Wrong login or password" message. This Linux server runs Red Hat Enterprise 5.4/64 bit operating system. Unfortunately, this server is maintained by a company sysadmin, so I have installed a test Debian Lenny system, and installed the same Ilias 4.0.1, with the same Radius settings. The error message is the same.

The company sysadmin guy told me that the Radius server does not get authentication request from the Ilias 4, while from the 3.10.9 everything is OK.

I think the problem is with the Ilias 4 radius authentication code.

On my test Debian system, the PHP error log is E_ALL, but the log file does not contain any error messages while I try to login. The Ilias 4 simply does not authenticate against Radius and does not give any error message related to that.

The Ilias installation is in a DMZ, and the firewall admins told me that LDAP authentication to Windows Server 2003 Active Directory is quite complicated from that place (many opened port), so I must get the Radius authentication work.

Thanks for your every idea and help!

Attila

Hi Attila,

have you posted this issue also to Mantis bug tracker? Sounds like a bug of the RADIUS auth in 4.0. If not, please do so.

Best, Matthias

Hi Attila,

choose the setting "Fixed Sequence" in "Administration -> Authentication and Registration -> Authentication -> Authentication Method Determination" and you can use Radius authentication in releases before 4.0.2.

Best
