Dear forum readers,

I am working on the filter for active users on the personal desktop.
I noticed that the details list does not stay open. Therefore I always have to open it explicitly when I get on the personal desktop.

Is it okay, if I make this choice "sticky". That is, when the user opens the details list, it will stay open, and when he/she closes the details list it will stay closed.

Please let me know what you think about this idea.
If no one objects, I would like to implement this for ILIAS 3.5.

With kind regards,
Werner

In my personal opinion, I think that yes, it would be the expected behaviour to keep it sticky :)

Regards,

Arturo.

By the way, is it possible to disable the active users box for all users on the platform? I disable it in every new personal profile (with the users having the ability to turn it on again). We have a test platform here and don't want every tester (from foreign institutions, for example) to see what's going on and who is online at what time.

Hi Brownie,

Yes, you can change the default values and you can prevent users from changing them.
To do this, change to the "Administration" view using the title bar. Then open the "User accounts" object. This object has a page named "Global settings".

Hello Werner,

thanks for the quick reply. Indeed this is the second time I get this information (I've read it in an older thread before) but cannot find the relevant setting there. Thus I believed the first thread was wrong. Below are the 22 options I see in "Global settings" (full path: Administration -> Administration -> User Accounts -> Global Settings) in Ilias 3.4.2 and 3.4.3:

Gender, Password, First name, Last name, Title, Upload, Institution, Department, Street, City/State, Zip Code, Country, Phone/Office, Phone/Home, Phone/Mobile, Fax, Email, Interests/Hobbies, Matriculation number, How did you hear about ILIAS?, Language, Default Skin / Style

Do you see more options?

Yes, this is a 3.5 feature. But I don't dare use it in a production environment because it is too fresh.

Dear all,

I tried to enable this feature in ILIAS 3.5.2 by just changing the entry in the drop down list in the last row 'Show active users' to 'Don't show active users'.

Unfortunately, it seems to have no effect. :(

Maybe, I have forgotten something? (The small boxes 'Visible','Changeable' and 'Required' are not activated)

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions!

Yours,

Karin

The value in the last row is a default value, which is applied to newly registered user accounts. It does not change the value of existing user accounts.

With kind regards,
